ENCON Evaporators |
ENCON Wastewater Evaporator vs. Bottom Heated EvaporatorsHeat Exchanger EfficiencyThe heat exchanger for the ENCON Wastewaster Evaporator is a Turbulent Flow Immersed
Chamber, elevated off the bottom of the evaporator tank and completely
surrounded by wastewater. Bottom heated systems primarily use the bottom
of the evaporator tank as the heat transfer surface. This translates to
a significantly larger heat transfer surface area for ENCON
Evaporators (up to 3X larger) compared to the bottom heated design. This
larger surface area results in a greater heat transfer efficiency; yielding
Heat Exchanger LongevitySince the heat exchanger for the ENCON Wastewaster Evaporator is elevated, solids settle past rather than onto the heat transfer surface. Bottom heated evaporators allow the solids to settle onto the heat transfer surface, which causes an insulating affect and reduces heat transfer efficiency. In addition to reduced efficiency, this can cause the bottom of the evaporator tank (i.e. the heat transfer surface) to degrade and buckle since heat is trapped underneath the settled solids and cannot escape.
